SIGAR VALLEY

Frontiering with a regenerative masterplan, Sigar Highlands Sustainable Development Centre leads a small site development by establishing the 5 TEUWB (The Economics of Universal Wellbeing) pillars of sustainable rural-urban development:

  • Stewardship of Dignity
  • Biosphere-Biodiversity
  • Pesticide-Free Food

  • Fully Inclusive Care
  • Culture of School of Life

This is a 15 acres small site development of a model sustainable development village in a rainforest highlands river valley – Sigar Valley.

#1000ROSEHuts
100 ROSEHut Villas with 6 archetypes are being prototyped onsite by ROSEHut Innovators: Homes (5 Generations), Biosphere Lablet, Research Stations (Flora & Fauna), Farmlet, Cottage Studios (Artisans), and ROSEHut Biophilic Hotelette.

The ROSEHut prototyping involves off-grid energy solutions as well as a masterplanning that is inspired by Christopher Alexander’s pattern language and nature of order approach to architecture. Glocal Commons will ensure the 5 Pillars of Sustainable Development are being incorporated into the physical and sustainable development masterplan.

The scalability of such a development is through a ROSEHut Technology that enables systemic planning and modular construction through the development of a generative code that factors in earth system science, conservation and human development frameworks with data, into conservation, infrastructure, real estate, economic and community development. A sustainable materials and circular production and consumption economy will be calculated and included in the #1000ROSEHuts Platform.

Campus Zero @ Moonriver Lodge
Skills development for the rural economy is planned via Campus Zero @ Moonriver Lodge. This is to provide resident fellows and resident apprentices the opportunity to work-study a Sustainable Pioneers’ Capsule (founded since 2009), through 43 modules of sustainable development broad-based programmes conducted in 6 months. This accelerates the workforce to lead a new nature-based economic growth in the region.

Anthropocene Research & Ecosystem Services
Ecosystem services methodologies based on the rainforest carbon, biodiversity, water, renewable energy, and sustainable development protocols will also be developed, and integrated into the glocal planning and development of Sigar Valley.
